“We want to be (recruiting) throughout the state. There are enough good players in the state of Georgia (that) if we can get the best players, we can be successful. If we can get the best players in Atlanta, we’ll be pretty good.” Coach Paul Johnson, 2/3/10 |

How sad is it that football powerhouses like South Carolina and Kentucky seem to be recruiting the state of Georgia just as well as Georgia Tech?
Not quite as sad as a UGA fan posing as a Tech fan with a blog about firing a coach.
ReplyDeleteThat about answer it?
So tell me something, Mr. Anonymous. Does it PLEASE you as a Tech fan to be shutout in recruiting versus UGA, and to be recruiting roughly as well in your own state as Kentucky?
ReplyDeletePerhaps I could accuse you of being a UGA fan for attempting to hide the truth about Johnson so Coach Richt can continue owning his ass both on and off the field.
Melanie said....anyone who puts ugag in all caps is obviously not a Tech fan.
ReplyDeletegeorgia tech should DEFINITELY follow this loser blogger's advice on recruiting. they boviously don't know what they're doing.
ReplyDeleteand neither does VT. 8 of virginia tech's 20 recruits this year were from out of state.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/hokies-journal/2011/02/the_fallout_from_national_sign.html
what a horrible pattern. all they have done is win the acc 3 of the past 5 years.
What does VT recruiting 12 players from Virginia have to do with Paul Johnson EXPLICITLY saying that attracting top players from Georgia was his priority, and then whiffing on nearly all his major targets, including every one which was also offered by UGA?
ReplyDeleteThe sheer number of players from Georgia is not an issue to me(that was actually raised by Roberson in the AJC article)-- it is the fact that we're getting COMPLETELY shut out on the top players. Of course that would hardly matter either if we weren't doing equally as mediocre out-of-state.
By the way, Georgia is one of the top NFL talent-producing states in the NATION, and Tech only has competition from ONE other FBS university in-state.(though Ga Southern put up a stern test for Kyle Travis!) To humor your lame attempt at a defense, Georgia produces roughly 40% more future NFL players than the state of Virginia, so it probably makes a little more sense to stay in the state of Georgia than it does to stay in the state of Virginia.
